Hyperhidrosis Treatment
What is Hyperhidrosis Treatment?
Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, is a condition where the body produces excessive sweat beyond what is needed for temperature regulation. It can affect areas such as the underarms, palms, feet, and face, significantly impacting daily life and confidence. Treatments, for example injectable anti-wrinkle injections can also be used for hyperhidrosis, working by temporarily blocking the nerves that stimulate sweat glands, significantly reducing sweat production in the treated areas.
-
• Underarms (Axillary Hyperhidrosis) – One of the most common areas treated, offering relief from sweat patches on clothing.
• Palms (Palmar Hyperhidrosis) – Reduces excessive hand sweating that can interfere with daily tasks such as handshakes and writing.
• Feet (Plantar Hyperhidrosis) – Helps control excessive sweating on the soles, improving comfort in shoes.
• Face & Scalp – Ideal for individuals experiencing excessive sweating on the forehead, upper lip, or scalp. -
• Significant sweat reduction, with noticeable improvement within days.
• Minimally invasive and quick, with treatments taking around 30 minutes.
• Long-lasting results, typically lasting 4-6 months before a repeat session is needed.
• Improves confidence, allowing you to wear any clothing without worrying about sweat stains.
• No downtime, enabling you to return to normal activities immediately. -
• Mild discomfort during the injections, which is temporary.
• Bruising or slight swelling at the injection sites, resolving within a few days.
• Temporary muscle weakness in the hands or feet if these areas are treated.
• Rarely, compensatory sweating, where other areas of the body may sweat more.Following aftercare instructions given, such as avoiding excessive heat or strenuous activity for 24 hours, helps minimise side effects.
-
Results typically begin to appear within 3 to 7 days, with full effects seen by 2 weeks. Sweat reduction lasts 4 to 6 months, and repeat treatments can maintain results long-term.
-
• Prescription-strength antiperspirants – May help in mild cases but often cause skin irritation.
• Oral medications – Can reduce sweating but may have systemic side effects.
• Iontophoresis – Uses electrical currents for particularly palm and foot sweating but, requires frequent sessions and not suitable for all types of hyperhidrosis
• Surgical options (sympathectomy) – A last-resort procedure for severe cases. -
